Little Nightmares feels like sneaking through someone else's dream. A bad one. It’s quiet, eerie, and filled with twisted versions of everyday things. You play as Six, a child-sized figure with nothing but a lighter and a yellow coat. She’s trapped in a place that doesn’t follow normal rules—where every hallway seems longer than it should be and every door leads somewhere worse.

What makes the game unique is the way it employs size. You're tiny relative to furniture, enemies, and even the plates on the table. That size disparity isn't aesthetic—it's the core of how the game functions. You'll have to climb onto shelves, swing from hooks, and shove large items just to be able to navigate a single room.

There’s barely any music, and that’s the point. Sound is used like a tool. You’ll hear soft breathing from behind walls, creaks under your feet, or distant thumps you’d rather not investigate. When the enemies come, they don’t sprint—they search, sniff, and reach, which makes it worse. You always feel like you’re seconds away from being spotted.

Little Nightmares doesn’t explain much, and that works in its favor. It leaves space for you to wonder what’s happening and why. The monsters look human but don’t act like it. The place feels like a prison, a kitchen, and a hotel all mashed together.

It’s a short experience, but it sticks with you. Not because of what it says, but because of what it doesn’t.

How to Play?

Step 1: Start the game and let Six stand up. The world is dark at first, so it helps to move around and get familiar with the controls—walking, jumping, and grabbing are all you need to start.

Step 2: Use Six’s lighter by pressing the assigned button. This helps light candles and lanterns, which act as save points. It also makes it easier to spot paths in dark corners.

Step 3: Hide and watch. Most rooms contain clues about what to do next. Look for open vents, dragable objects, or platforms you can climb. Pay attention to how the environment is laid out—it’s often part of the puzzle.

Step 4: Stay low when near enemies. Crawling makes you quieter, and some enemies react to sound more than sight. Keep an eye on their movement patterns before making a move.

Step 5: Use shadows to your advantage. Some areas are too open to sprint across. Stick to the darker parts of the room and wait for the right moment to cross.

Step 6: Collect hidden items. There are secret statues and small creatures scattered through the levels. Finding them gives you extra achievements and adds a layer of exploration if you're not rushing through.

Step 7: Keep moving forward. The game saves automatically at key points, so if something goes wrong, you won’t lose much progress.
